Saudis Spellbound by Pagan Halloween Festivals in Riyadh

news

Authorities in Saudi Arabia sponsored a Horror weekend that coincides with the October 31st day of Halloween.  Halloween was a forbidden holiday in past years leading to the arrest of Halloween party goers.  However under crown prince Muhammad Bin Salman it is no longer banned.  All around the capital Halloween costumes can be seen as young Saudis dress themselves up as ghosts, goblins, and clowns.  Halloween celebrations are now in full swing.

Halloween comes from Celtic festivals that were devised to appease and venerate the spirits of the dead, honoring the lord of death, and “saints”.  There is a clear consensus amongst the scholars of Islam that this Pagan holiday is forbidden.
