Chinese authorities in East Turkistan question young children often, sometimes even on a weekly basis, asking them if their parents pray. This is according to activists who are clarifying how the Chinese authorities decide who to target for arrest and detention in one of their internment camps.
This revelation comes at a time when Uyghurs are facing a major crisis in that they are being forced to remain in their homes due to Beijing’s Zero COVID policy. Some have been trapped in their homes for more than 20 days and have been unable to go out of their homes and search for food without risking arrest for “breaking the law”.
