A BJP Leader Implicated in Mob Related Slaying

news

A First Information Report has been filed against Ashok Kumar Jaiswal charging him with homicide.  Mr. Jaiswal, a local Bharatiya Janata Party Leader in India, has been implicated along with 21 others for his alleged role in the slaying of a Muslim man identified as Mustaqeem.

It has been alleged that a dispute broke out between Mustaqeem and another local resident as Mustaqeem’s goat entered the property of a neighbor in the locality of Katra Bazar in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.  That evening Jaiswal, who is also the chairperson of the local municipality, and a large group of thugs apparently barged into Mustaqeem’s home, beat and killed him, and injured his two sons, Salman and Aftab, and daughters Sheeba and Shabnam.

Thus far 7 men have been detained.

Beating and slayings of Muslims has been on the rise since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government took power in 2014.

Ashok Kumar Jaiswal, who is also the chairperson of the local municipality, was charged under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
