HTS Propagandists Embarrassed by Prisoner Release
Initially, Abu Mahmoud Filastini, a staunch HTS supporter based in London and a point of reference for journalist Abdussamed Dagül, strongly condemned the kidnappings of Sheikh Abu Shuaib Masri and Isaam Khateeb. He even voiced support for HTS taking control of the areas where the ex-detainees were abducted, unaware that HTS themselves were responsible for the heinous acts.
Abdussamed, in his reporting, attributed the kidnappings to FSA factions in North Aleppo without verifying the information.
Why discuss this issue now?
Both detainees were recently released, and disturbing images of Isaam Khateeb surfaced, depicting the brutal treatment he endured.
To date, neither Abdussamed Dagül nor Abu Mahmoud Filastini has retracted their initial accounts or clarified the matter to their audiences. Such failure to rectify misinformation contradicts the integrity expected from journalists and students of knowledge. Moreover, the victims may hold them accountable in the hereafter for siding with their oppressors.
