White Helmets Director Speaks to Need for War Crimes Accountability

news

Director of the Syrian Civil Defense Organization also known as the White Helmets, Raed Al-Saleh said about accountability for war crimes:

“The absence of accountability has allowed dictators around the world to commit more crimes, and what we need is a clear accountability mechanism so that we can prevent these crimes in the future and achieve justice for the victims.

He touched about the issues with international aid, especially food aid, being used as a weapon of war by the Assad regime saying:

“The adoption of the conflict lines to bring aid into northwestern Syria was nothing but an explicit attempt to float the Assad regime and besiege the Syrians and (further the hardships on) the besieged Rukban camp.”
