Two Children Die as EU Abandons Boat of 60 Refugees off Italian Coast

news

According to the AP, 60 asylum seekers from Syria and Lebanon appealed to the “European” coast guard in the Mediterranean to save them after they were stranded days ago on a fishing boat near the coasts of Malta and Italy, stressing that two children died, because food and water ran out.

The migrants told relatives and volunteer groups via satellite phone that they had been without food, water and baby milk for the past three days, and that water was leaking into the boat carrying them, while European authorities did not send rescuers.
