Police Officer Dies and Terrorists Identified in Turkey’s Mersin Attack

A Turkish policeman was killed in an attack on a police station in the Turkish state of Mersin, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced the death of one officer and the wounding of another in an attack on a police headquarters in the southern state of Mersin.

The affiliation of the attackers have also been released, as have the identity of one attacker. The PKK terrorist organization is responsible for the attack Monday evening that involved a gunfight and detonation of several bombs.

According to Turkish sources two women involved in the attack were killed, “when they realized that they would not be able to escape, they blew themselves up.”

The Turkish Ministry of Interior said in a statement, that of the identity of the two “terrorists”, one of whom was identified as “Dilshah Arcan”, the third attacker was arrested and is currently in custody.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar:

“We have information that the perpetrators of the ‘terrorist’ Mersin attack planned in Syria.”
