On September 27 a group of Hinduvata extremists from “The Army of Lord Rama,” a right wing extremist organisation, barged into a school in a public school in Karnataka state, India. The group violently entered the school where they used abusive language and accused the principal Abdul Munaf Bijapura of attempting to convert children for assigning them an essay topic about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Bijapura denied the accusations calling attention to previous essay topics which introduced students to Hindu philosopher Purandara Dasa and composer Kanaka Dasa. Stating that those competitions introduced students to new personalities and helped them improve their composition skills and handwriting.
