Hundreds of Syrian Youths Attempt to Enter Turkey via Bab Hawa Crossing

Several initiatives have found traction among disaffected Syrians, in both externally and internally displaced refugee populations. The so called “Convoy of Light” and “Peace Convoys” seek to organize large scale migration of Syrians, most young men, from host countries like Turkey and Lebanon as well as northern Syria to EU countries in continental Europe.

One such movement the “Peace Convoy” saw hundreds of youth attempting to make their way into Turkey via Bab Hawa crossing, before being dispersed by security forces. According to statistics provided by the crossing more than 2,000 Syrians were “voluntarily returned” to Syria from Turkey in the last month alone.
