Human Rights Committee Confirms Greek Abuse of Refugees

The Syrian Human Rights Committee confirmed that the Greek forces are using excessive force and live ammunition to repel asylum seekers coming from Turkey while they are trying to cross its lands towards the countries of asylum.

She pointed out that the Greek forces rob the asylum seekers’ property and force them to return to Turkey by throwing them at the borders in inhumane ways, beating them severely, breaking their limbs with sticks and batons, and using police dogs to intimidate them, which constitutes a violation of Athens’ international legal obligations.
