Cholera Outbreak in PKK/SDF Administered Dier Ezzor

According to local sources, a new outbreak of cholera, one of the most dangerous water borne diseases, in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, which is under the control of PKK/SDF militias stirs fear of an epidemic in the community.

The recent spread of cholera, as a result of stopping the distribution of chlorine to water stations by the “services office” of the SDF managed Civil Council affiliated has been blamed for the outbreak.

Over the the last three months untreated water has been distributed for drinking by the people. Several hospitals, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, have reported dozens of cases of severe diarrhea among the people in the area as a result of drinking polluted water.

UPDATE: Quoting a medical source: Nearly 200 suspected cases of cholera have been recorded in many areas controlled by PKK/SDF militias in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.
