Why Hamas is Refusing Peace Talks with Israel

Hamas has announced that it will not participate in the Doha meetings scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, as confirmed by a resistance leader speaking to Al-Mayadeen.

The source explained that Hamas refuses to initiate negotiations without basing them on the last proposal submitted on July 2, noting that Netanyahu has introduced new conditions that undermine the negotiation process.

Dr. Maher Al-Taher, International Relations Officer of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, told Al-Mayadeen:
“If the resistance receives specific guarantees from mediators, it may reconsider its stance on negotiations.”

The resistance has made it clear that it will not engage in talks that could lead to further massacres against the Palestinian people.

Rasmi Abu Issa, Arab Relations Officer for Palestinian Islamic Jihad, shared with Al-Mayadeen:
“Hamas is negotiating on behalf of the Palestinian resistance, and its position is unanimously supported.”

The resistance is unified in its decision not to enter negotiations that would give Netanyahu more time without any real progress.

The resistance is fully committed to stopping the massacre of our people, and the world knows who is truly obstructing the negotiations and where the problem lies.

The resistance sees no option but to continue fighting in the face of Zionist intransigence.

We are confident that the Axis of Resistance will respond, and these negotiations are seen as merely a tactic to buy time.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hadi, Hamas representative in Lebanon, stated to Al-Mayadeen:
“The current atmosphere is filled with deceit and procrastination from Netanyahu, who is stalling for time while the Axis prepares its response to the assassination of martyrs Haniyeh and Shukr.”

They want us to return to a pre-negotiation stage, which is not in the best interest of our Palestinian people.

We will not enter into negotiations that would serve to legitimize Netanyahu and his extremist government.

Hamas’s position is grounded in the firm conviction that tomorrow’s negotiations would start from a disadvantageous position.

The assassination of Ismaeel Haniyeh and the Al-Tabaeen massacre seems to confirm that Netanyahu is intent on escalating the conflict.

Hamas believes it is pointless to begin negotiations from positions that have already been surpassed.
